SALLY BEAUTY COMPANY NAMES NEW PRESIDENT FOR SALLY BEAUTY SUPPLY
Sally Beauty Company has named Michael G. Spinozzi, as President of Sally Beauty Supply for the United States and Canada. This new position will report to Gary Winterhalter, President of Sally Beauty Company and Beauty Systems Group. As President of Sally Beauty Supply, Michael Spinozzi (Mike) will direct the store operations, merchandising/purchasing, advertising, customer service, customer relationship marketing, loyalty programs and public relations. A retail veteran of 24 years, Mr. Spinozzi will be charged with directing the overall strategic direction for the more than 2,100 Sally Beauty stores in the U.S and Canada. Mr. Spinozzi joins the company from Borders Inc., the second largest bookstore chain in the United States, with stores in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Puerto Rico and Singapore. Mr. Spinozzi’s most recent position at Borders was Executive Vice President, Chief Product Officer, with responsibility for all product and supply chain functions for Borders Group worldwide. Prior to this position, he was Chief Marketing Officer overseeing all marketing, merchandising procurement, logistics and warehousing. In the position of Senior Vice President, Marketing and Sales, he oversaw branding and marketing for this Fortune 500 company. For the 19 years prior to his 5-year tenure at Borders, he held a series of increasingly responsible positions at the Jewel/Osco division of Albertson’s, Inc., and the second largest supermarket chain in the U.S. The last position he held at Jewel/Osco was Senior Vice President of Marketing and Merchandising for this combination food and drug store company. In this position, he oversaw all aspects of marketing, merchandising, advertising and sales for this $6 billion dollar company. During his tenure at this leading grocery and drug chain, where his first position was a Jewel T grocery store manager in Florida, he was involved in every aspect of the company from merchandising to marketing, store operations and logistics.
Before joining Jewel/Osco, Mr. Spinozzi played second base for the minor league San Francisco Giants. His educational background includes a B.S. from the University of St. Francis and an M.B.A. from Northern Illinois University. He serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for the University of St. Francis. Mr. Spinozzi is married and has three children.
